Are Carers Equal? - A Survey on Carer Equality
Scotland's Carers Strategy has recognised carers as equal partners in the provision of care. But what does this mean?
Are carers really equal or are they disadvantaged by their caring role?
We are asking carers and local carer organisations to take part in a Scotland wide survey on Carer Equality from June 2011 to June 2012. The survey is available online, or in paper form.
We will use this information when working with the Scottish Government to plan for a more equal future for carers.

Short Breaks Fund
The Scottish Government has established a Short Breaks Fund to help support and sustain carers - including young carers - through enabling better access to short breaks or respite care. In total the government is making £5million available over five years from 2010-2015.
The Short Breaks Fund is facilitiated by Shared Care Scotland. As part of the launch of Round 2, Shared Care Scotland are holding a series of workshops across Scotland to share good practice from the first round and support groups in applying to this round. There will also be the opportunity for groups to meet and discuss their application with the Short Breaks Manager.

Carers and campaigners have been working hard up and down the country over the last year to promote the manifesto and secure commitments for carers in each of the political parties manifestos.
