The last meeting of the Coalition of Carers in Scotland was on Wednesday the 24th of February at Adelaides Church Centre in Glasgow. This was also our Annual General Meeting.
The theme of our meeting was 'Shifting the Balance of Care' - What does this mean for carers?'
The government along with key partners is exploring new ways to deliver services and has piloted innovative programmed such as Telecare and Re-ablement. They are also planning to implement an ambitious programme of change in Re-Shaping Older People's Services.
Shifting the Balance of Care from traditional services in hospital and residential settings to more flexible services in the community and at home is at the heart of these changes. At our meeting we brought togehter lead officers from the government and local authorities to explain this ambitious programme and to ask 'What does this mean for carers?'
