Thanks to funding awarded by the Scottish Executive we are able to offer a course on 'Carer Participation in Planning, free to carers.
The course is designed for carers who are interested in becoming involved as a carer representative on their local Community Health Partnership. It will be facilitated by staff from Aberdeen Carers Centre, who have run several successful programmes in the past.
It will cover the following topics:
- Looking after yourself
- Preparing for meetings
- How to deal with feelings - yours and others
- How to influence at meetings
- National and Local Strategic Planning Structures
- Techniques such as using Mind Maps
- How can you represent all carers?
- How and what to feed back
The next course will take place on the 22nd and 23rd of March 2011 in Carnoustie at the Carlogie House Hotel, which is run by East Ayrshire Carers Centre. This will be a two day residential course which is available to up to two carers from each member organisation.
