The Coalition of Carers in Scotland (COCIS) is a national membership organisation working to strengthen the voice of unpaid carers in Scotland. We promote carers’ rights and ensure carers’ lived experience shapes local and national policy, services and legislation.

We are recruiting a Communication and Engagement Officer to play a key role in how we connect with carers and the organisations that support them.

The role

This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of our communications and engagement work. You will:

  • Manage COCIS digital communications, including social media, newsletters and website content
  • Create clear, accessible information on carers’ rights, policy developments and national campaigns
  • Plan and facilitate online forums and networks for carers, including under-represented communities
  • Support peer networks and knowledge-sharing for carer organisation staff across Scotland
  • Gather and synthesise carers’ views through surveys, forums and engagement activities to inform national policy and consultation responses
  • Help coordinate webinars, members’ meetings and events

The post is home-based and offers a high degree of autonomy, while working closely with a small, supportive staff team.

About you

You will have experience in communications, engagement or community-focused work, with strong written communication skills and confidence facilitating meetings or online spaces. You will be organised, comfortable using a range of digital tools, and committed to inclusive engagement.

We welcome applications from people who bring relevant experience through paid work, volunteering, community involvement or lived experience.

What we offer

  • 33 days annual leave plus 6 fixed statutory holidays
  • 6% employer pension contribution
  • Flexible and part-time working options
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption pay
  • Paid Carer’s Leave and enhanced sick pay
  • Supportive team culture and commitment to learning and development

How to apply

To apply, please complete the application form and return it to coalition@vocal.org.uk by 5pm on Friday 15 May 2026. Your supporting statement should address the essential and desirable criteria in the person specification.
